Our COVID-19 Response
Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, Munro Doig has implemented precautionary measures to ensure the safety of its staff and clients.
As the information currently available to the public about COVID-19 is changing constantly, Munro Doig will ensure that necessary action is taken as further information comes to hand.
The following is effective as of today (19 March 2020).
Munro Doig has put into place a strict regime of social distancing. Face-to-face contact with clients will be minimised and clients are encouraged to arrange for meetings to take place through video conferencing facilities or by telephone.
We appreciate, however, that in some situations, face-to-face meetings may still be necessary. The following applies for face-to-face client appointments:
- Where a meeting is held in our boardroom, the client and the lawyer must maintain a 1.5 metre separation at all times. Our boardroom table is big enough if we sit at opposite ends;
- There will be no handshaking, but alternative non-contact greetings may be used, such as a hello dance;
- Boardroom surfaces will be sanitised following each meeting.
Under no circumstances will face-to-face client appointments proceed if a client has:
- flu-like symptoms;
- returned from overseas in the last 14 days; or
- been in close contact with any person affected by COVID-19 in the last 14 days.
Please do not be offended if we turn you away.
We have also, as of today, given our staff the choice to work remotely. A skeleton staff will be maintained at our office. This may mean that certain manual tasks may take longer than usual, which could in turn affect our overall turnaround times slightly.
Where our receptionist is working from home, this will likely mean that phone calls to our office will not be transferred directly to our lawyers. Instead, our receptionist will be taking phone messages and asking for our lawyers to return the call. Please also don’t be alarmed if you hear a dog barking in the background (as many of our staff keep fur babies at home).
We are, of course, also requiring staff to self-isolate if they exhibit flu-like symptoms, have returned from overseas in the last 14 days or have been in close contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19.
In this current environment, please know that we are sending you our best thoughts of health and prosperity.
